Made this with pork for Christmas Eve dinner. It was so good and everyone raved about it and asked for the recipe. It makes heaps too so we had some for baking and leftovers.

Skip the peeling. Just cut the apples in a small dice and mash or put in blender or food processor. I hate throwing out good fiber!
To make the seeding go quicker just cut the apples from top to bottom on all 4 "sides",just outside the seed pocket - should leave you with a about a 1-inch square "core". Nibble on any extra apple around the core.

Use this recipe for pear sauce too!

Wow, it's like I wrote that introduction! I used to hide things all the time to find as a surprise, most often in an ornate little decorative box we had in the living room. And I rearranged my furniture all the time, from the age of four. Shocked my parents. Even if your habit was odd, it wasn't unique!

Fruit whore... lol :)

Hi! I'm new here. I found you while looking for White Chocolate-Macadamia Nut cookies (thanks for the great recipe!) and now I'm already falling in love with your blog! Just want to mention an incredible apple pie made without sugar that the Apple Pan Restaurant in LA has been selling since the dawn of time. It's their signature dish and is so delicious, yet I've never seen a recipe for anything like it. Have you? If anyone has a good recipe for one--made preferably with juice and not with any of the various sugar substitutes (unless maybe with agave or maple syrup :), I'd really appreciate knowing about it.
Thanks again, Big Whipped! Did I say, I love your blog? Well, it warrants repeating.

So great that you just use a fruit masher. My mom always ran applesauce through her food mill (I guess she didn't trim the apples before) and I was under the impression that because I didn't have one, I couldn't make applesauce.

Yeah! I am SO making this because as you know, this fruit whore has piles of bruised fruit laying around. LOTS. It's the last however - Farmer Pete officially "retired" me last week. Very glad you're enjoying it. FYI - I now call myself "the patron saint of bruised fruit." More Mother Teresa, less Mary Magadalene.
