Because she would buy the doll toppers that were made for those things, and of course, they didn't usually have legs either. Or, if they did, they were the cheap barbie substitutes. On the bright side, you have raised a child with enough awareness, of others, caring and kindness that she noticed and cared about your disappointment, and tried to make you feel better. Except we used a Hi-lex bottle and stuck a barbie torso in the top. Red net skirt over the bottle, construction paper hearts glued to the bottle and a hole cut out of the back to put the valentines in. Man, that kicked a$$!! Love that your little lady appreciated the effort and want you to know that I'm 47 and I would be SO EXCITED to have this as my 48th birthday cake. Pretty sure my 3 YO would love it too. Best laid plans... For what its worth, I think this cake is amazing! Here's a tip - hide Barbie's legs really well. After Laurel whipped through opening 15 birthday presents from her friends, we surreptitiously took the 2 barbies she got (we're wetter blankets than you) and hid them in the closet, thinking that if she actually remembered them, we'd let her have them.
