I have kids in their early 20s two college graduates almost.....I would look for a Waldorf school Montesorri, or nearby Catholic school....a safe environment was my driving force.... Both of my children spent 9 and 7 years at a prep school St. Paul Academy......I have a class right now at the Uof MN and it talks about the Lab school started by Dewey...even though he spent most of his years at Columbia.....the Lab school tutition is 26K same as SPA.....K through 3 are the most important and then what about their friends..... it becomes so complicated....all you really can depend on is change.....When a school district is run by a mayor.....who's kids probably go to the Lab school along with Arne Duncan's kids...... that is a sad day....when business makes decisions about education.......good luck in your search.....

I'm a Chicagoan, too, but I'm 99% sure that we'll move out of the city once we have school-age kids. It's a disaster here. I'd be happy to move back to Minneapolis, but will probably have to settle for the Chicago suburbs (ugh... so much sprawl, and so much work to get into the part of the city where I work and just to do things).
