Our Thanksgiving Menu & Recipes for 2025

A number of people have asked me why I haven’t posted any Thanksgiving recipes or menu suggestions. I just didn’t have the time! I was busy jumping ahead to holiday party appetizers so I wasn’t too late on those. Since food blogging is my hobby and not my full-time job, I don’t always have time to share as much as I’d like.

Instead of recipes, I am sharing this quick round-up of what we plan to eat this Thanksgiving. Some are my actual recipes, others are recipes from other websites that I plan to try, or in the case of the herb stuffing, it is very close to what I usually make. There will be only six of us at the table this year, so my mom, daughter, and I are splitting up the dishes and keeping it pretty simple.

While I love a traditional Thanksgiving meal, it has come to my attention that not everyone in the family likes turkey. So, we are going to have a small sliced ham and only a turkey breast. I found a recipe on NY Times for a buttermilk brined turkey breast. For those of you who are long-time readers, you know I have BIG Buttermillk Love so I’m certain the buttermilk brine is the way to go.

A few years ago, to free up oven and stovetop space, I found a recipe for Instant Pot mashed potatoes. They are perfect! I don’t change a thing from her recipe, and the Instant Pot can keep them warm while you finish everything else. For our cranberry side, we are partial to a fresh cranberry relish that is simple and delicious.

This year, I am making one change from our usual, which is to forego green beans for a crispy brussel sprout and apple salad. I have a hankering for something fresh and crispy on the plate. Also new this year, my eldest daughter is taking on pumpkin pie duty from Grandma. Mini Whipped is a Sally’s Baking devotee so she will use one of her recipes.

What are your family’s favorites? Or, do you forgo traditional Thanksgiving dinner for other traditions? Wishing you a healthy and happy holiday. For those who are struggling this year or experiencing grief, I hope that you find yourself with loved ones.

Thank you to all of you who visit Whipped The Blog! I am so GRATEFUL to share my virtual table with you.

Imagine autumn having a hot, love affair with bourbon. A little spicy, a little tart, wafting the aromas of the season. I’ve been on the bourbon bandwagon for awhile. Corn Pudding a la Colette

I like to always be thinking about what my Top 10 favorite foods are. I never write them down and the list seems to be consistently in progress and rotating. I am not sure what the fun of a Top 10 is when it is never really a secure list of 10. But, I frequently

Crunchy Brussels Sprouts and Apple Slaw Recipe

Finely shaved brussels sprouts provide a robust structure for this crave-worthy salad, their mildly bitter leaves emboldened by a sweet and tart maple-and-mustard dressing Every element of this salad works hard to make this slaw memorable: Apple provides sweet, fruity bursts; the shallot injects aromatic appeal; the almonds bring much-needed crunch; the mint lends bright herbaceousness; and salty pecorino imparts essential sharpness Serve with bread, or enjoy as a leafy side accompanying a main
