Pizza Wreath: Easy Christmas Party Food!
I know, we aren’t even at Thanksgiving and I’m already thinking about Christmas party food! Generally, I don’t agree with jumping the gun on holiday celebrations. Christmas music in stores November 1st? Please nooooooo!
But, I’ve been reminded that when I post seasonal recipes ON the holiday (i.e. Halloween punch on October 31), it doesn’t allow others to plan ahead and make the recipes themselves. So, I took a few days to scheme up ideas for holiday party foods last week, and family had to eat ornament-shaped cheeseballs, snowmen caprese sticks, and wreath pizzas for dinner in November. Oh, the sacrifices of having a food blogging hobby.

This pizza wreath was a favorite because, well… my family likes pizza. There is nothing special about this holiday appetizer except for its shape. And, I chose toppings to decorate the pizza in a most wreath-like way. Often I make my own thin crust pizza dough, but to save time, I bought this pizza dough from the store.
To make the pizza into a holiday wreath, I cut out the center with a martini glass and turned it into a bow. Also, I chose toppings that would like like red wreath type decorations. It takes just a bit of fussing, but I suppose that is what the holiday season is about. We do a little extra, eat a little extra, celebrate a little extra!

Pizza Wreath: Easy Christmas Party Food!
- Prep Time: 30 minutes
- Cook Time: 10-12 minutes
- Total Time: 40 minutes
- Yield: 12–14 appetizer servings 1x
Description
Serve pizza with some holiday flair. Just cut out the center of your dough and turn it into a wreath. Voila! Easy holiday party food.
Ingredients
1 ball of pizza dough
1 jar of pizza sauce or marinara sauce
shredded mozzarella cheese
pepperoni
small cherry tomatoes, cut in half
fresh basil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
- On a piece of lightly floured parchment paper, roll out the pizza dough into a circle approximately 14 inches in diameter
- Use a pastry ring or glass that is about 4 inches in diameter (I used a martini glass!) to cut out the center of the pizza dough to create a wreath shape.
- Take the center piece of dough and roll it into a long, thin tube, about 10-12 inches long. Cut off 2 inches. Use the long piece to make the two loops of the bow. Then, slightly flatten the short piece and wrap it around the middle to create the finished bow. Set aside while you top the pizza.
- Spread the sauce on the pizza wreath.
- Top with shredded cheese and use the pepperoni and cherry tomatoes cut in half to decorate the pizza.
- Lay the bow on top of the bottom of your wreath pizza.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust edges are lightly browned and toppings are melted.
- Remove from the oven and top with fresh basil leaves, near the pepperoni to create a holly look.
- For serving, cut into slices while keeping the shape and design intact.
Notes
I tried to dust my bow with edible gold sugar for some extra flair and I don’t think it was all that successful. You could just brush with olive oil to give it some extra color.
You can prepare these an hour before the party and bake when you are ready to serve. We also ate some that was no longer warm and it was still good!
Experiment with any different toppings you like!
